An elliptical arch follows an ellipse. Its curvature changes along the arch, so the brick layout needs its own calculation. BrickCore computes the curve and the corresponding brick and joint geometry.

Measure the opening and rise to the inner crown. Half the opening and this rise are the two semiaxes of the ellipse. Then enter the brick size, ring depth and desired joints.
An ellipse does not have one constant radius around the arch. Joint directions change with the position on the curve. A basket-handle layout therefore cannot be reused, even when its width and rise match.
With a 160 cm opening and 50 cm rise, the semiaxes are 80 cm and 50 cm. Start from the middle of the opening. Brick size and joints determine the final division along the ellipse.
