Measure the horizontal opening and the height difference between the two sides. Identify which side is higher. Enter crown height, brick size and joint, using the same horizontal datum throughout.
A rampant arch starts at different heights on its two sides. Left and right are therefore not automatically interchangeable. Follow the calculated brick numbers and cutting profiles; simply mirroring one half can produce incorrect joints.
With a 160 cm horizontal opening and a 35 cm height difference, the high springer is 35 cm above the low one. Measure the 160 cm horizontally, not along the sloping line between them.
